Lancia Officially Unveils New Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale Rally Car
Lancia has officially announced that they are developing a new Rally2 car, releasing video and official images of the new Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale. The Italian car manufacturer, which has won a record 10 constructor titles in the World Rally Championship (1974-1976, 1983, 1987-1992), has confirmed that they are working on a new rally car after footage of the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale being tested in France surfaced on social media last week.
The return to competitive rallying for Lancia this year with the new two-wheel-drive Ypsilon Rally4 car has seen it compete in the European Rally Championship alongside the new Lancia Rally Trophy. Today, Lancia issued a brief statement about its latest rallying efforts. “The new Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale makes its debut, bringing the legendary rallying spirit of Lancia into modern motorsport, and this is just the beginning,” the statement read.
The initial steps for the Ypsilon seem to have been taken in France and documented in a short video showing the car returning to the tent after speeding on tarmac. According to Motorsport.com, the Rally2 journey has been underway for several months. It is still unclear when the car will make its debut and what Lancia’s future intentions are in the rally world.
The World Rally Championship is preparing for major technical regulation changes to be introduced in 2027, with the upcoming season being the final season for the current Rally1 cars. Under the new regulations, the WRC27 cars will be built within a cost cap and produce around 300 horsepower using a spaceframe chassis and Rally2 components. Starting in 2027, the existing Rally2 cars will compete alongside the WRC27 cars under one umbrella, forming the top class of the WRC. In theory, Lancia could compete in this WRC class with the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale.
